About

I have embarked on what feels like an unbelievably ambitious process, making a rocking chair. I am currently a Master of Architectural Studies candidate at UT Austin, where I have designed my own interdisciplinary program focusing on wood. My studies have taken me from plant biology, to philosophy, to interior design theory, to the wood shop, and further beyond, all with the aim of making me into a furniture maker with a broad base of knowledge and a strong, theoretical background. This blog is part of my thesis project in which I will be making a rocking chair and then writing a paper about it. The blog is intended as a place to document my process and serve as a vehicle to present the great, growing network of people, things, and environments being built through making a chair with my hands. Here goes nothing…and everything.
